The first-ever collaborative pay-per-view between AEW and NJPW.
Since so many well-known wrestlers were injured and unable to compete on Sunday, maybe this is the first of many crossover events for AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Although there are a dozen matches on the card involving talent at every level, the championship matchups received the most attention in the run-up to the show.
Let's examine what occurred in Chicago on Sunday.

In recent months, injuries have plagued the rosters of both AEW and WWE. Due to the absence of key pay-per-view performers including CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Bryan Danielson, both companies had to abandon their initial pay-per-view plans, which significantly altered the Summer of 2022. The complete list of serious injuries sustained by wrestlers in both companies since the year's beginning is provided below. As soon as there is information about a new injury or recovery, we'll update the list, so keep checking back!
This Sunday's Forbidden Door crossover event with New Japan marks AEW's comeback to pay-per-view wrestling. Money in the Bank, the following high-profile WWE live event, takes place on July 2 in Las Vegas.
After exchanging roll-up attempts, Moxley hit Tanahashi with a heavy clothesline, but only managed to score a single count. Moxley smacked him with elbows and put him in the rear-naked choke as he started to bulk up. As he choked him, the crowd chanted "Go ace!"
Tanahashi was able to get to his feet, but Moxley eventually executed a Paradigm Shift to secure the victory. Following the contest, the Jericho Appreciation Society arrived at the ring and attacked Moxley and Tanahashi to prepare them for their Wednesday showdown at Blood and Guts. Claudio Castagnoli arrived after Eddie Kingston and the Blackpool Combat Club. Castagnoli swept everyone aside with flying elbows before hitting Garcia with a huge swing.
The main event was quite good. You can tell when Tanahashi goes around the ring that his knees are plainly in horrible shape. But that is nothing new, and as in the past, he managed to get himself into a fantastic match. But it ended a little too soon. The fans rallied strongly behind him as he hulked up near the finish, but it was precisely the moment Moxley defeated him. It would have been nice to have had a few more minutes.
