Who will compete in 2022?

World No. 1 and defending Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic and Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who is unbeaten in Grand Slam tournaments this year, will lead an all-star roster playing on the grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London.

Along with Nick Kyrgios, Thanasi Kokkinakis, and rising star Alexei Popyrin, Alex de Minaur, who is now ranked number 22 in the world, is leading the Australian drive.

The ever-entertaining team of Kyrgios and Kokkinakis will reunite to play in the Men's Doubles for the first time since they thrillingly won the Australian Open earlier this year.

The top three men's competitors will be last year's 2021 Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berretini, Greece's Stefano Tsitsipas, the current No. 7 player in the world, and 19-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, a quarterfinalist at Roland Garros.

Tennis legend Serena Williams will compete for her 24th solo Grand Slam championship, which is an intriguing development for the women's draw. The number one player in the world, Iga Witek, who recently won Roland Garros for the second time, will be her opponent.

The highest-ranked female player in Australia, Ajla Tomljanovi, will be one to keep an eye on after reaching Wimbledon's quarterfinals the previous year.

On Monday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. on 9Gem, Wimbledon 2022 will begin.

Novak Djokovic won the men's singles title at Wimbledon in 2021. This year, the world's top player comes back to defend his championship; if he succeeds, it will be his seventh Wimbledon singles triumph and his total 21st grand slam victory.

Due to his ongoing recovery from knee surgery, eight-time champion Roger Federer will not be taking part. Rafael Nadal will be there despite a severe ongoing foot ailment; if he wins, he would have won a men's record 23 grand slam singles titles. Rafael Nadal still has a chance to complete a calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian and French Open titles.

In the women's singles, there is no reigning champion. Ash Barty created history in 2021 when she became the first Australian woman since Evonne Goolagong in 1980 to win the Wimbledon women's title.

However, due to her announcement of her retirement in March of this year, Barty is not participating in the competition this year. Iga Witek of Poland is the top seed in the women's singles draw for 2022.

Since Barty's retirement, witek has dominated women's tennis; she currently has a 35-match winning run going back to February.

Serena Williams is one well-known athlete returning to Wimbledon. With a victory at Wimbledon, the 40-year-old hopes to match Margaret Court's record of 24 grand slam singles victories, after taking a break from the sport.
